The dermatologists of Georgia Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center are devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of the various types of allergies, rashes, tumors, growths and cancers that may affect the skin.

All of our physicians treat infections of the skin, such as fungal (ringworm), and bacterial (impetigo) and viral (herpes and shingles). Rashes of the skin, such as drug reactions, work-related eruptions, poison ivy and poison oak are treated. If necessary, skin allergy tests will be conducted along with treatment. Insect bites and stings can also be treated.

Our dermatologists perform surgery of the skin to remove all forms of skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of the disease. Other non-malignant growths, such as warts and moles can also be surgically removed. Cryosurgery and colposcopy are also done for certain malignant and non-malignant conditions as well as skin grafting for ulcers and microscopic surgery for cancers of the face, ears and neck.

We provide care for complexion problems, including dry skin, acne, broken capillaries and preventive care against skin cancers, wrinkling and aging skin. Small, broken veins of the legs, known as telangiectasia, are treated as well by a micro-injection technique also known as "sclerotherapy".

Our licensed esthetician, Genelle Pope, provides glycolic acid exfoliations which diminish facial wrinkling and improve overall skin quality. These treatments also offer benefit to some acne sufferers. A homecare product regimen augmented by office treatments and facials can renew the skin's appearance.

Hair, scalp and nail problems are treated by our physicians as well, ranging from hairloss and/or scalp infections to excessive hair growth. Hair removal preformed by a certified electrologist is available in our Macon and Warner Robins locations.

Preventive care and health education are stressed for each of our patients. Our doctors participate in numerous health fairs throughout the year providing screening for skin cancer. They also speak to various community organizations on skin wellness and skin cancer prevention. Our educational services department takes an active part in the health education of students in surrounding counties - stressing the importance of sun protection at a very early age. Our participation with Central Georgia schools (K - 12) and area vocational programs are a public service to the community, stressing the importance of early recognition and prevention of skin cancer.
