About Georgia Dermatology's Skin Rejuvenation System...
Since the beginning of time, men and women have pursued the secret of radiant, younger looking skin. A glowing complexion has been the envy of generations of men and women. In fact, our generation is not the first to enjoy the benefits of fruity acids. Several civilizations have discovered the key to a radiant "new" complexion.
It's no secret that...
- Cleopatra used sour milk (lactic acid) over her body to make her skin more smooth and supple.
- Ladies of the French court applied aged wine (tartaric acid) to their faces to keep their skin youthful.
- Polynesian women, whose beautiful complexions are world reknowned, have long enjoyed the benefits of sugar cane juices (glycolic acid) applied to their bodies. What is Glycolic Acid and How Does it Work?
- Glycolic acid is natural, non-toxic fruit acid also called AHAs or alpha hydroxy acids. There are many types of fruit acids, each with their own source: malic acid/apples, citric acid/fruits, tartaric acid/sour grapes, glycolic acid/sugar cane and lactic acid/sour milk. Of all of these, it is believed glycolic acid is believed to have the greatest potential for penetration into the skin. It offers better results over shorter periods of time. It is used today as an exfoliating agent and as a moisturizer.
Many skin problems are caused by or are associated with excessive buildup of dead skin cells. As you age, cumulative sun damage causes the skin to thicken and yellow due to the excessive buildup of those dead skin cells. These dead cells prohibit the migration of new skin cells to the surface. Glycolic acid dissolves this cellular "cement" on the surface and the dry outer layer is gently removed revealing a softer, revitalized glow.
What exactly is a Glycolic Acid Exfoliation?
- A glycolic acid exfoliation is a technique for skin renewal. A high concentration of glycolic acid is applied to the skin causing rapid removal of a damaged layer of dead skin cells, revealing the fresh undamaged skin underneath.
- The glycolic acid exfoliation is a controlled removal of surface skin cells that acts as a stimulus for renewal of the skin. The improved skin appears healthier, plumper and tighter.
- The treatment itself is a very superficial peel. The improvement of the skin's appearance results from a controlled series of exfoliations that don't require a long recovery period or the significant "down time" associated with chemical peels.
- Types of improvement possible with our Glycolic Acid Exfoliation Treatment...
Lightening of pigmentation irregularities
Softening of fine lines from sun damage
Smoothing of superficial scars
Decrease of acne lesions (blackheads and whiteheads)
Increased smoothness of skin texture and an increase in the skin's natural glow and radiance.
